PC- IBM ThinkCentre
RAM - 512 MB
OS- XP Pro
Other Adobe Products isntalled: Readr 6.0 & Pagemaker 7.0

I am a domain adminstrator for a XP Windows network, and I am having trouble installing PageMaker 6.0 on a user's workstation. I granted the user administrator rights for his profile and installed PageMaker 6.0 on the user's profile. The setup/installation was normal. However, when the user lanuches PageMaker 6.0, the program displays this error message-

?Adobe Directory <not found, Registry setting for Adobe Directory or PM
L6 LangDir Key is missing or incorrect>

When I go into my profile (Domain Administrator) or under the local administrator profile, I am able to launch PageMaker 6. The user needs PageMake 6.0 to complete a project by the end of next week. So, an immediate response is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Manuel

PM 6 is not certified to run on XP, You might try installing directly under the users account, but you still may have no luck. The best bet is to upgrade to at least PM 7.

Hi, Manuel,

Here is the link to the PM KB referring to your error message:
Error "...Registry setting for AdobeDirectory or PM6LangDir key missing or incorrect..." When Starting PageMaker 6.0 After Installing PageMaker 7.0 <http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/2f37a.htm>

However, PM6 is NOT suported by Adobe on WinXP, and to be honest, PM6 (c. 1995) was not one of Adobe's best being a tranistional Win3.1/Win95 application.

Ken's right - upgrade to PM7. £65/€95/US$79.00

Or look at moving to InDesignCS PageMaker Edition…
