I have external web links that I have created in PageMaker 7 for Windows that are not showing up after using the Export to PDF function.

I have done quite a bit of searching on this topic in this forum and in PageMaker Support, so let me answer some possible questions right off the bat. This is text that was selected with the hand tool before "applying" the created hyperlink. I did not select the text with the pointer tool first. The links DO show up and function in PageMaker when the hand tool is selected. In the Hyperlinks tab on Export to PDF, the "External" box is checked.

A side issue that complicates this is that it seems that if you use PageMaker's Export to PDF function, you are not able to copy and paste the resulting text into a text file, e-mail, etc. Instead, you get odd characters, in my case, bullet characters. So, it seems like even if I get this Hyperlink export to work that I may not be able to "have my cake and eat it too." In other words, I'll have a PDF with working links, but we won't be able to copy and paste the text out of them.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. At this point, I'm about to do Print to File PDFs and do the hyperlinks in Acrobat instead.

Whoops. Correction... I did NOT select the text with the "hand" tool... it was the text tool, as usual. The hyperlinks do show up in PageMaker when the hand tool is selected. Sorry for the confusion.

This failure has been reported before, but I am an unable to recreate it.

See: <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?7@@.1de6810b/1>

I can only suggest that yout make sure that your compsose to printer is Acrobat Distiller and that the Printer Style "Acrobat" uses the PPD Acrobat Distiller 3011.104.

Pardon if this is obvious, but it wasn't to me the first time I tried to figure it out- You checked the "external links" under the Hyperlinks tab of the PDF Options when Exporting the PDF from PageMaker, right? Because I didn't the first time, and oddly enough, it didn't export them :-)
