I cannot Spellcheck my documents in Pagemaker as there seems to be a problem with the Dictionary files. The application just can't find them! How can I fix this? Am I able to find the Dictionary files (.bpx, .nfo, .vpx) on the Net? Will re-installing them to the right directory work?

Hi, Swt,

> I cannot Spellcheck
>
Make sure that a Dictionary has been selected in the "Paragraph" settings.

If none is present, you will need to install them from the PM application CD>

re spellchecking problem. I also cannot spellcheck. Updated to 7.01. Same problem. Checked if dictionary files present. Yes. UK English. Checked if dictionary selected under 'paragraph'. Yes. Dictionary is present, & works under PM 6.5Plus. Both PM 6.5~ and 7.01 work fine other than the dictionary problem with 7.01. Anyone have any further suggestions?
Thanks, Jim Wiltshire

I have the same problem with Pagemaker 7.
I posted a question back in April on this problem and received some suggestions, but none have worked. When I try to use spellchecker message indicates 'dictionary missing or does not support spelling'. I tried a reinstall ensuring I installed the dictionary...again, but no success. Thanks to persons who have responded to date. Any Adobe people reading this who might be able to help!!

Hi, Jim,

> Checked if dictionary selected under 'paragraph'.
>

See if this helps:

Select Text tool.
Select all the text. (Ctrl+A)
Select Paragraph Specification. (Ctrl+M)

If "Dictionary" is blank, select "UK English" or whichever language is
appropriate.

Click OK.

Click on text with secondary mouse button.
Click "Spelling".

Spelling check should begin.

Imported text often does not have a dictionary/language attached.

Hi, Barb,

> It's as if PM thinks I want the defualt dictionary to be 'none'
>
Load up PM but do not open any publication.
Select Paragraph Specification. (Ctrl+M)

If "Dictionary" is blank, select "UK English" or whichever language is
appropriate.

Click OK

This should set your default dictionary as "UK English"
