Can anyone help me before I lose all my hair!! I cannot get PM to successfully export a PDF and distil it using Distiller 6. It makes the PDF which looks OK on the PC it was created on but looks like s**t anywhere else. Examination reveals that the embedded fonts have been turned into some strange (Acrobat only??) fonts named T1, T2, T3 etc. They should be variations of Helvetica Neue. I have followed Adobe's support document 320923 and installed Acrobat 6 before PM7. That made no difference. I have downloaded and installed the PM 7.0.1a update which is supposed to fix compatibility issues between Acr6 and PM7 but that has made no difference either. Distiller is configured to embed the fonts and PM is configured to download the fonts to the printer. I am now at my wits end so if anyone can help, I would be very grateful

Have you read the FAQs on PDF creation? Please do.

As for the fonts changing names, that's fairly normal and is Acrobat's
way of doing things. I don't really know the reasons for it, but you can
check in the Acrobat forum for details.

Hi, Paul,

It seems to me your fonts are not being embeded.

Have you examined Settings -> Font Locations in Distiller 6.0 so that Distiller can locate all your fonts?

FAQs are here: Donald Gruener "Table Of Contents - Complete Listing of All PM FAQ Topics" 4/5/04 3:05pm </cgi-bin/webx?50@@.1de7c91d>

Eureka!! Had a read of the FAQs as suggested by Bob and downloaded and installed the PS driver for Windows 2000, creating a local desktop printer in the process. I then defined a printer style in PM based on that printer. Now, provided I select that style when exporting to PDF, all is well - the correct fonts embed in the document, the compatibility with previous versions of reader is OK, the TOC and index generate correctly and all the links work.

I'm so glad that's sorted - I can get on with some proper work now.

Many thanks for the assistance Bob.

Paul
