I am putting together a short video and I would love to do the into and ending in LiveMotion for two reasons. One, I have no experience using any video editting software, and two, I have a lot of experience doing animations in LiveMotion.

Is there a way to convert .swf files (frame by frame - no independent time groups) into raw (unencoded or uncompressed) .avi files, or even mpeg1 ??

The bulk of my video is already in uncompressed .avi, and I wanted to bring everything together into a program called VirtualDub to do some minor cropping and to encode the final video using the DivX codec. So I would prefer not to lose any image quality until it's encoded.

Another thought I had was creating an .exe of the .swf file, and then trying a program like Fraps (www.fraps.com) to see if it could record, or capture, the animations as an .avi, but I'm not sure if this animation could be captured.

Has anyone tried any of this? Help is greatly appreciated.

One more thing, I did not think about it, but if there is a way to convert a QT .mov to a raw .avi, that would work also, since, of course, LM will export to QT.

Check out the codec options for LM's QT export, which includes "None." I'm an ignoramous about video, but I suspect that's full quality, with no compression at all.

Thanks Phil! I had no idea that option was available, it'll sure come in handy.

Alright, I did it, finally.

Just in case anyone else needs this...

* How to convert LiveMotion Animation into .Avi Video Format *

1) Produce the animation in LiveMotion, and export to QT .mov, with 'None' selected as compression method (thanks, Phil).

2) Import this HUGE .mov into the Trial version of FL#sh MX, and use the export *24-bit* (not 32) bitmap sequence, which will create a single 24-bit .bmp for each and every frame.

3) I then used a trial version of 'Fast Movie Processor 1.41' found at...

<http://www.file-ext.com/multimedia.html>

...that imported the sequence of .bmp's and exported it as an uncompressed .avi, and all very quickly.

Or spend $30 on QuickTime Pro and export your MOV file directly to AVI...

Sure, that's another option Joe. Thanks.

But I'm done. I used LM for the intro and credits - saved me hours. Here's the finished product...

There are free swf to video cnverting tools:
1. YouConvertIt: swf to many video formats (http://www.youconvertit.com/)
2. Handbrake: swf to mp4 and mkv (http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php)

Besides the above free tools, this guide also helps: http://www.kvisoft.com/tutorials/convert-flash-swf-to-mov.html
