I'll bet this has been broached before, but I can't seem to find it, so here goes:
We've just purchased ID for the pc and would like to print a Pantone chart that was created in Illustrator (as an AI file). Which is the best format (AI, pdf, eps) to bring into InDesign, and is there an easy way to convert the old cvc swatches automatically to the new coated swatches without clicking on every single colour?

Your help is very much appreciated,
Tricia

Actually, it turns out the conditions where the colors can't be modified or changed are placing as PDF, EPS, or AI. So, copying and pasting looks like the way to go.

If you're going to to any converting in InDesign, I would suggest selecting all and copying from Illustrator then pasting into InDesign. If you import as PDF, EPS or AI, the shapes are uneditable. Also, there are a few instances where Pantone colors in imported files cannot be modified or changed in InDesign (not entirely sure what the conditions for this are, but I have run into it.) I'm sure a script could take care of the "CVC" to "C" remapping, try the InDesign Scripting forum.
