Is there an easy way to switch to grayscale when exporting a PDF from InDesign? I don't really understand the Convert to Destination options.

Thanks, Phyllis

I am also looking for that from export menu. But there is no option. I installed Adobe Acrobat Professional, Just Print the Document as PDF in output menu choose Composite Gray from Output Tab.

I think this is useful to you..

Thanks. I've got Acrobat Pro 8. In this version, it's under the Advanced menu. Advanced - Print Production - Convert Colors. Then you have to pick one of the gray gammas (either Gray Gamma 1.8 or Gray Gamma 2.2). I have no idea what those mean, but it seems to work. I'm assuming it's a true grayscale and not staying in RGB mode or anything. I dunno! Anybody know?

Thanks, Phyllis

Those are grayscale profiles. No Color information.

Phyllis,

for gray in an RGB-space like sRGB or Adobe-
RGB(98) we use Gamma=2.2. This means, the images
are considered as gray RGB images: R=G=B .

For offset printing we use DotGain=15%..20%
for coated paper and about 25% for uncoated
paper. This means: the printed dot on the
paper is larger as defined by the imagesetter.
Therefore the numbers are reduced in order
to achieve the correct size on the paper.

Chenet:
thanks for your suggestion. But IMO it cannot
be used in Export to PDF, and printing as PDF for
Composite Gray doesn't make EPS color ingredients
gray (as tested by the doc above).
