I'm a Mac user creating documents in InDesign 2.0.2., then exporting to .pdf. The PDFs will be posted on a web page from which they'll be viewed by mostly Windows users (and some Mac users) using Reader.

Because the PDFs are being downloaded from a web page, the Windows users will all view them in a brower window (a fact I can't change).

There are hyperlinks in the documents; they're exporting and working fine -- but is there a way I can force the URL links to open a second browser window? When the Windows users click on a URL link, they get taken directly to that new URL site, which replaces my document in their browser (making it problematic to get back to the same spot again in the PDF again). I'd like the linked URL NOT to replace the PDF document, but to open a second browser window instead. (Not the text anchor links, just the URL ones.)

I'm not all that experienced in html, but I tried what "open new window" coding I know of , in both InDesign and in Acrobat 6.0. Doesn't seem to work. I'm also handicapped because my own Mac doesn't have this problem -- it opens PDF in Acrobat and URLs in the browser and they two don't conflict.

Can someone help? I'm willing to add coding in either the InDesign or the Acrobat stage, whatever works!

Thanks!
Barbara

This is really an Acrobat question and should be asked in the Acrobat forum. You'd probably need to use Javascript commands in Acrobat Professional.
