English to Spanish Indesign

Is there any Plug-in that will convert English text to Spanish in Indesign. If there is no plug-in does anyone have a way to have this done.

File export text, send to a human translator, get text back, replace in
a copy of the document and adjust layout for the new content. Remember
to set the language to Spanish in your styles.

Computers do a lousy job of translation, and for the most of the time
the same text in Spanish and English will not be the same size.

Nope for the most part Spanish take more sapce.
And I agree with Jay, send it to a professioanl translator. It might be expensive, but it is the best way to make sure your content is correct.

There are more than a few translator programs around. Use any of them to translate some English text to Spanish, publish the result here, and I'll be glad to translate the result back into English. Then see if you can recognize the original.

Long way of saying that we are still very far from the time when computers can replace humans in this task. And of course, not any human will do; you need someone who knows both languages, and is familiar with the subject matter.

Claudio's Spanish is pretty much infinitely better than mine, but it appears to me that while the computer translation into Spanish is pretty much on target literally, stylewise it would never be confused with writing by a literate Spanish-speaking writer. Which is the problem with most computer-translation programs. Intelligible they may be; good they are not. Kind of like computerized voices on the weather radio. You can understand them, but you'll never think a human is actually speaking.

FWIW, when I used to work in an area that constantly translated English into Spanish for printed products (not with computers!), we allowed for an average of 20% expansion in text space, and usually allowed 25% to be sure the expansion of English text didn't cause Spanish text to overlap graphics.

I usually get about 10-15% more text in the Spanish version, But our
translators will lean towards keeping the Spanish shorter and the
English a bit longer. This is something a computer program cannot do.
