Unresolved or out-of-date cross reference...

I have a document that gives me an error when I try to print or export to PDF:

There are unresolved or out-of-date cross-references in the document "Front Matter.indd"

The perplexing thing is that the Cross-reference dialog box only shows two cross references, both of which are behaving correctly. And more to the point, if I delete both those cross references, I'm left with none in the Cross Reference list, but I still get the message. There IS a table of contents in the document, but I didn't think those made cross references (and they're up to date in any case).

There doesn't seem to be a "Find/Change" option for finding cross references. I've saved out as INX and reopened -- that didn't help, I still get the dialog. Any ideas?
