What the title sez :-)

Every now and then I have to do some mean UI task a number of times, and it's just too much hassle to write a script!

Today, someone had entered table captions in a separate row at the top of the table. I don't like that, so I had to search for a table (using <0016> -- now there's a trick!), click inside the top row, escape, escape, cut, delete row, move left, press enter, paste. It was about a dozen tables, so I figgered writing a script would take me longer.

Ahhh, the wonders of Word. They are few and far apart, but that's at least one of 'em.

I fully support this plea. When tidying up clients' files there are so many tasks that take no more than a dozen keystrokes but need to be done repeatedly and scripting is overkill. I have a very ancient little programme called Qedit which has what it calls a macro facility. Choose the Macro command, assign a key, type the keystrokes required, choose save macro. Simple and sooo useful.

I'd like to throw in my support for this idea. It would be especially useful if it would allow the ability to record font substitution or other dialog box input (as an alternative to PShop's "supress dialog box" option for example).

Yes, please! Simple keystroke recording would simplify so many repetitive tasks that non-scripters have to do manually.
