Next time Adobe releases an update to CS4, please don't let it mess with user-set preferences unless it really has to. And why does the list of recently opened files disappear? I tried to get back to where I was before the update by relaunching with Cntrl-Cmnd-Shift-Option but that just produced an enigmatic query "Delete prefs file?" I clicked "yes" hoping that this would get rid of the standard prefs 6.0.1 was now using and restore my own, but it didn't. I don't know what it did. Not a good experience.

This has been ID's behavior since forever. Any change to program,
udates, new plugins, etc, will reset the open recent.

It used to be far worse.

Adobe does make some truly awful software, including a huge chunk of Illustrator, but the gold and silver medals clearly belong to their updated and their installer. Those are easily the worst things Adobe has put their name to, and there seems to be no sign of hope for improvement.
