I'm completely new to Illustrator.

I can't seem to get the Legend to show up next to my pie chart. (I've got the box checked under Type: Add Legend Across Top)

I'm fairly certain it has something to do with the way I've put my data in. (I've put the percentages in the first row, going straight across) Where do I put the info. for the Legend? (For instance, the first percentage, 13 percent, corresponds to 0-249 employees, which would be the first item of the Legend.) When I put that data into the first column, all it does is shrink the size of my pie chart.

Please help. Thanks.

Jenny:

Did you put that number "0-249 Employees" in quotes? If not, Illustrator thinks it's another piece of data.

Ian,
Thanks for your reply. I put quotes around the "0-249" and my legend still isn't showing up. The pie chart looks great, but the legend just isn't there.

Again, I have all my data in the first row only. Is this correct? The percentages are listed first, and then I begin with the data for the legend ("0-249" "250-499" etc.) Am I entering the data correctly?

Thanks.

No, labels and legends are always in the top row or the left column.
