I'm creating a simple business card design with dynamic variables. I set up the text variables and created 5 separate data sets for each person, each consisting of the person's name, title, address, phone number, and email. I chose "Save Variable Library" from the Variables palette and saved the XML file. Just to experiment, I tried "Load Variable Library" to load the data sets back in, and I get an error: "The filter cannot complete because of an unknown error." I tried deleting the existing data sets before loading, among other things, but I couldn't get it to load. I never touched the actual XML file. What am I doing wrong?

I'm answering my own question. One of my variables contained a line break. I created a new variable for the second line, and everything seems to work as it should now. Still, I think it's strange that a simple line break would take down the whole process. If I were setting up dynamic pages for ads that contained product descriptions or other long bodies of text the carriage returns would screw it all up. What should I look out for, or how can I avoid these problems?

So nice to know that Adobe Illustrator programmers haven't fixed these issues after almost 20 years. UGH .. Thank you Bill. I retyped all my variables and it's still crashing.
