I've had to reinstall illustrator 10 and now when I load some of my old docs I get an error saying that I'm missing round corners.aip and drop shadow.aip plugins. Any ideas why I'm missing them or where I can get them from. I've performed a complete install with no luck. I can't get the help function working either...

What a nightmare...

Thanks for the help

Jody,

Have you tried deleting the AIPrefs file yet? (no extension and it's a Hidden File so you have to opt to SHOW HIDDEN FILES. It's also stored in with system files, so do a search for it.

Jody,

Sometimes Illustrator seems to forget the preferences you have set and sometimes does not automatically set them up correctly at installation.

I have found that if you look in the preferences menus, there is a preferences for where it looks for plug-ins; check that it is looking in the right directory.

Roger,

Check your Plugins\tools folder and ensure the two filters are named EXACTLY
as:

Scatter Brush Tool.aip
ArtOnPath.aip

Len,
yes they are named exactly the same.
I cannot understand why it runs fine in 98 but not in XP.
I am also running Norton Anti-virus, could this be causing the problem?

You need to switch off all AV stuff whilst installing, but the AV shouldn't
be causing problems in running, although other parts of Norton System Works
CAN be problematic...

Make sure you install as administrator with full read/write access. Before you r-install do a complete removal and clean-up including all .TMP files, then de-fragg. Now re-install 10.0.3 as admin is safe mode.

Ian,
I am having problems removing Illustrator in uninstall software in control panel,
When I click on remove Illustrator it comes up with another programme to install?
I have set xp as system adminstrator.
I had to use restore point in help to get rid of Illustrator but their are probably temporary files, problem is I have a lot of other Adobe software installed and I don't want to remove any needed files?

Re-install Illustrator over the top of the existing software in safe mode. You might then be able to use the Windows Uninstall applet. If that doesn't work I recommend you call Adobe by phone or wait for a response from another User. I don't have WinXP here and have not had that problem.
