It will let me save the file as AI, PDF, export as TIFF... but it will not let me save it as an Illustrator EPS. The error message I get is "Can't save the illustration".
Also - the "EPS Format Options" box has a warning at the bottom that says "Document contains artwork that requires flattening." I'm not sure what that means?
Any insight would be appreciated,
Cat
"Flatten" means to put all objects into one full layer (each object or group being in a sublayer of that layer). To accomplish that, click Option arrow (top right) of Layer Palette and click Flatten Artwork (or CONTROL ALL to SELECT ALL and click Merge Selected.
See if this doesn't now bring up the EPS options for saving the file.

- The EPS Format Options dialog box still shows the alert "Document contains artwork which requires flattening."
- Attempts to Save As Adobe Illustrator EPS format produces a "Can't save the illustration." error message.
HOWEVER - I did try copying the flattened artwork into a new file, and was able to save *that* file as EPS.
So I guess, for all practical purposes, I can live with this odd error. I'd still appreciate any insight anyone has re: what's going on. I'd love my file to be fixed for real, and not just through some workaround.
