I don't know why this update has to be this much of a problem.

I clean installed, never did the 10.0.01 update, and I still get this error. I also made sure that the Keyboard Shortcuts.aip isn't a read-only.

Am I missing something? Where do I unzip the update files? Does it matter?

Is there anyone who had this probem and sucessfully installed the update??

Thanks for everything in advance. Sorry if I sounded a bit annoyed.

Hong,

After downloading the Illustrator update 10.0.2 (it's a self extracting ZIP), use Explorer and path to where you stored it. Double click it and it should self extract and place the 19 extracted files into your (username) Temp file (depending on your Windows version) or you can send it to any folder of your choice. There is a README_10_0_2.PDF file with installation instructions. Did you follow those? Actually Setup.exe will do it automatically ... as long as you do NOT have Illustrator 10.0.1 update installed, as previously noted.

I saw a message in the forum (2 pages back) and he/she re-installed the OS and it worked...
I'm gonna try it out..

Hi,

I've got the same problem.
It won't help you, but you know now you're not the only one ;-)

Greetz...

Hong:

Updating Keyboard Shortcuts.aip has failed. The return value is X. If this occurs when installing the 10.0.2 upgrade on WinXP, do a re-install of WinXP.
