Can't Create Outlines from True Type

After I select Arial text (True Type), and then go to the Type Menu to choose "Create Outlines," it's greyed out. Help, please!

If you are selecting withn the "I" beam, deselect and got the select arrow
"black arrow" and select, go to Type create outline and see if that works.

Are you highlighting with text tool? or selecting with an arrow?

The former won't work; the latter should work.

Thanks, Bob. I've tried both ways. BTW, I'm using Illustrator 10.

Make sure you are at 10.0.3, the program doesn't work well if it's unupdated 10.

I tried recreating the problem in version 10 and had no problems. Since you say you can select the type, I'm assuming the layer the type is on isn't locked. Try initiating a "select all" and then try to create the outlines. And it wouldn't hurt to heed Bert's advice as well.
