I exported a drawing from Freehand to Illustrator and everything came in on one layer with multiple levels of sublayers underneath.

My problem is that I need to pick and choose certain items, but they are all on locked layers embedded in the layers pallette. Since there are almost an infinite number of items in this drawing it is virtually impossible for me to find the selected item by scrolling through the layers pallette.

Is there a master switch to unlock everything in the drawing? The "unlock all layers" command in the layers pulldown seems to only apply to the 1st level of layers. Its not unlocking the sublayers.

Thanks,
Maddy

I think you are actually talking about objects (not sublayers) inside main layers. If so, hit Ctrl+Alt+2 (the default shortcut for the Object > Unlock All command).
