I know that many effects are only available for RGB documents. If I apply the Outer Glow command to an object created in a CMYK document, will Illustrator preserve the effect? Further, will the effect be preserved if this file is ultimately saved as a .pdf for my serevice bureau? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have found that if you use Acrobat 4 Distiller you lose the effects. If you use Acrobat 5 Distiller for creating the PDF it's ok. However it depends on what your service provider uses.

An alternative is to create the effect, (make a copy of the file first), export that item to a PSD.
Place the PSD in the document instead of the one you created, and use that for the final version.

Thanks Karen.

I'll use Acrobat 5.0 to create the PDF and make sure that my service bureau is using it as well.
