So I got a brand new computer here. Windows 2000 SP4 (couldn't get XP), 2GB of RAM. 80GB harddrive. 21" flat panel display at 1600x1200 and Illustrator CS is giving me this ridiculous message about how it cannot finish previewing the document. "Not enough memory available or object is too complex."

How is this even possible? I viewed this document on a 1400x960 res laptop with HALF the memory and HALF the harddrive space and still, there was no problem. And I could SAVE it there as well. I can't save this document on the new system because every time I try to it says "An Unknown Error has Occurred."

This is making me EXTREMELY angry. So much money was spent on this good equipment and now there are all these problems...

In another document, I had tried to paste a graphic that I copied from Photoshop CS and got an Illustrator Error.

Does this have something to do with me having 2GB of RAM??? I have heard about problems once you get to 2GB but I thought it was with older versions of Windows.

I REALLY wish someone from Adobe would respond here because this is making me seriously unable to work!!

Ok,

Just wanted to add an update. I did a reinstall with the Adobe CD, and then before entering Ill again, deleted the plugin cache file and the AIPrefs file.

Everything now *seems* to be working ok. I can see the whole doc now as a preview and can save again.

Not sure if it was a corrupted AI Prefs or plugin cache or some other file but that cleared it up. Thought you all would want to know.

Sounds like some of the problems that I have been running into. Are you a member of the local administrator's group on the machine? You may want to double check that.

Robin...

I believe you may have forgotten to type an "e", an "a", and a second "e" in PLS.

Apologies if I'm being too obvious or patronizing. Many of us here don't read SMS and AIM fluently.

Hi,
Check language setting (WinXP) in "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Advanced > ... language version of non-unicode programs...". Setting to "English (US) (Than must restart) seems to solve the problem. It really works!!!
