I managed to change the color settings in AI10 from thier default settings and now ALL of the original artwork colors have changed. In general, they are muddy or darker.
Does anyone know what the original "factory" settings are for the Color Settings dialog box?
I'm hoping that if I can "go back" to the original installation settings then the original colors of the documents will be restored.
Thanks in advance...
G
If this does not help, you may try deleting the AIPREFS file (backup the old one just in case) which resets everything to the factory defaults. If you don't know how to find and delete it, search the forum for aiprefs.

Illustrator doesn't save the color settings in the AIPrefs file, as
far as I know. It saves it in the AI Color Settings file and it should
be in the same folder as the AIPrefs file. If you move the AI Color
Settings file out of the folder and restarts Illustrator, you'll get
the default color settings back, but you're right that the default
setting is 'Emulate Adobe Illustrator 6.0'.

I had tried deleting the AIPrefs file earlier and it did not fix the problem...
Changing the color management profile is a sure fire way to mess up every document you've ever created...
Thanks Alexander!

I didn't know that there were another file for color settings, so I supposed that (as other settings) it would be saved in Aiprefs... Thanks a lot for the info!
Gaver,
glad it helped!
I have just found that the color settings will be set to default
also if you move or delete the AiPrefs file. At first I was pretty
sure that it doesn't have any influence on the color settings, but
it sure has. Nevertheless one can avoid resetting all other settings
by deleting the AI Color Settings file instead of the AiPrefs file
if one only wishes to reset the color settings in Illustrator.

Thanks
So I was right too, after all, hehe :))
Gary,
Depends on your system.
In Win98/NT (if I'm not much mistaken)
...Win***\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator**
In W2K and XP - can't remember, but you can search the forum for AIprefs and XP or 2000 or W2K or W2K.
