How to find the centre of a group of objects?
I have managed to do this by dividing the height and width of the box and
adding the offset etc., but this seems a long way round. Smart guides isn't
helping.
Any simple way of doing this?
Thank you,

With the objects selected, it is stated in the Transform Palette when the central Reference Point is chosen.
I've got 6 objects grouped. Illustrator draws a box right the way around
them all. I would like to make a circle whose
centre is the exact centre of this box.
Why would you not just draw the circle, select the Group and the circle, click once on the Group to anchor it, and perform a center alignment?

When that failed, I tried to snap two guides, and again Illy lets you down
where ID succeeds. (In InDesign guides snap to all the control points of an
object's bounding box, but not, it seems, in Illy.)
I guess at this stage I lost hope that Illy actually knows where the centre
of a group is, and so I headed off to the forum lol.
However, both suggestions are sensible. Thank you.
FEATURE REQ.: Add a snappable GUI representation of the centre of groups,
like in InDesign. Also, make all control points snappable to, like in ID.
