I have an Illustrator 9.0 file which gives me an Offending Operator message when i try and open it: the error reads as follows:
Offending Operator: 'Tf'
1 0 0 1 1092.959 -500.8428 0 Tp
0 Tv
TP
0 Tr
0,3333 0.8235 0.9569 0.2549 (Marrone) 0 x
/_21.5456 0 0 Tf
The file will open but half the layers are missing! Can anyone help me at all? Please !

If you do a search for Offending Operatoryou will find numerous post on how to fix various forms of this problem.
However there maybe a way for you to open the file in a more intuitive way which is to create a new blank AI document and then go to File>Place and select the file in question. Often times placing it in AI will work and you will have all your layers. This does not work all the time but it is definitley worth a try.
Oh, yes if you are successful in placing the file resave it as an AI file with a different name. Then you will more than likely be able to open it normally.
Good luck.

If the place method doesn't work, go to Illustrator FAQ and follow the instructions given for "recovering corrupt files". The first step in those instructions is rather skeletal, so feel free to ask if you are unsure how to extract "roundtrip information".
