We are working on macs and PCs in our studio. Whenever exchanging a Illu document the Special letters will change (and we have lot of these letters in German). Saving as pdf is fine for viewing but as soon as we open the pdf in illu we have the same problem again. Any tips tricks tools to get rid of this anoying problem??? Thanks..

Are you using the same fonts on the Mac and PC? Are they both TrueType, Opentype or PostScript? You should not use TrueType on one computer, then have PostScript on the other/

If they are both TrueType, you might try using the native Windows .TTF file with Suitcase for Mac. It can activate and use Windows TrueType fonts without converting them first.

Just to clarify, OS X has built-in support for Windows TrueType (.ttf) and PostScript Type 1 fonts. A font utility program like Suitcase is not necessary in order to be able to use these fonts.

Hope this helps....

adobe support says:

Using Truetype fonts is causing this problem!

Unfortunatly most system fonts on both platforms are TT fonts. When working cross platfrom, postscript fonts do not show this problem.

I tried and it works fine with PS Fonts.
However it would be nice to see a more compatible software in the future, hopefully

thanks again for answering to my post

It would also be nice if someone would make a little freeware/shareware widget that would take selected text in any app (or in the clipboard) and convert it from Windows encoding to Mac encoding, or vice versa.

I haven't found anything like this yet; someone tell me if it exists!
