I am a not complete neophyte ...but I approach it.
I build websites in golive but GoLiveCS2 is an ocean and I am only learning how to swim.

So I took pictures of this beautiful book. I have shots of the pages and those pages moving through the "turning" process. I Have altered the images in photoshop to remove the images and text on the original pages in each shot. What I want to do is have the pictures of the book be the back ground of my page and when folks click on the next page icon the background cycles through the series of photos to the next "page". So it appears to be turning? is that clear? I know that it's kind of sappy but it is in keeping with the theme of this new site I am working on.

I am concerned about the load time of the images and being able to make it look seamless and not stagger between loading each image. Advice? Pre-load the images? I would love to be able to add a sound effect of the page turning as well but I have been annoyed by so many sites with sound that is too loud or just drives me nuts cuz it repeats. Thoughts?

The sounds is really an extra. what I really can't figure out is how to make those pages turn. I am not worrying about text until the page is "open" or "turned". I am not attempting to make the content shift with a turning page.

Any advice would be terrific! Thanks already. kt

You cannot make Web pages 'turn' in that sense wihout something like flash. Do you have a link to something where we can see the effect you're trying to emulate?

Yes, Flash is the answer here. Have a look for instance on this magazine and how it turns pages.

Be prepared for it loading though. Then it is fairly fast. This is the low-res issue.

what about turning the .jpg or .gif image files that I have into a "movie" that plays when they click the next button and then uses an action to open the next page?

Hi kt

I'm not sure as to how this is done - and don't really have the time or investigative skills to look into the source at the moment - but I just saw this and recalled your question of the pother day.

This is truly beautiful and I'm sure some of the other folk here can tell you how it was done - Isuspect it took a while!

click on the magazine cover and then use the forward back arrows to see the page turning effect.

i'm going to be watching this thread to learn how it was done.....

DHTML <http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/bookflip.htm> can work to some extent.

Note the smaller scale of these images to make the effect practical. Using larger background images for your concept may not be ideal.

What's interesting is that I'm using a computer that has the same price tag as a good used car...to watch a simulation of a...BOOK!

SWF'S Slideshow Pro offers a page turn effect although without the zoom
buttons etc.

That was done in Flash (right or CTL click the image and it comes up with Flash Player settings)

Only the second one from the top does have the effect - works here.

Hello,
I'm not sure that whether a webpage can flip pages. If you stuck on it, just feel free to get an answer from kvisoft(http://bit.ly/ymDrhl ) which is an expert building page turning software.
