I need to added Greek Letters to my text that's not an equation. The symbols page of HELP says Control+Alt+m but when I do this nothing happens. Can anyone advise me on the proper way to insert these symbols please. Thanks.

Mary, can you tell us a bit more information:

What O/S
What version of FM?

What font face are you wanting to use?

Mary,
For beta, try holding alt and typing 098. For mu, hold alt and type 0109. Make sure your font is symbols.

Hope this helps,
Beverly

I'm using Framemaker 7.0 and Win 2000 pro. Font is Arial. I need to insert symbols for beta & mu. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Thanks Beverly but that didn't work either. I have the symbol font available to select but nothing happens when I type alt+098 or alt+0109. Thanks for your time.

Mary, you get nothing at all, or just the wrong characters?

Do you have your NumLock key turned on?

No, the numlock key is not on. I have a laptop so I don't have a numlock. I'm suppose to hold the ALT key while typing the numbers 098 is this correct?

Maybe that is the problem. It only works for me when I use the number pad with numlock on. If I hold alt and use the number row on top of keyboard, I just get beeps.

Glad you solved it, Mary. The necessity of having NumLock on (or in your case, the correct function (FN) key setting) while typing the Alt+ character numbers is something that trips folks up fairly often.

That's it! I have a function key that changes the "mapping' of my keyboard. So mu & beta are achieved by FN then M or B using the symbols font. Thanks so much. FYI - I'm using a IBM ThinkPad.
