I'm using Framemaker version 6, I want to copy or import an excel cell or cells if possible, meaning the text in the cell without formatting, I have made FM tables with the cells already formatted for this info. How can I place the info into the FM cells or table and still retain all the FM formatting and ruling. Is their a tool so I can copy and paste a section?.

You can export the Excel data and then import it, which will give you control in Frame but you won't have any link to the original.

You can also embed an OLE object and (sort of) maintain a link to the original, but it's not very reliable.

I usually "copy" the cell(s) from Excel and "Paste Special" (Text) into the Frame document. This makes the Excel information come in as plain Body text separated by tabs. I highlight the tabular info and "Convert to Table" selecting the table format I have already set up to receive the information. Just make sure you delete blank columns from your Excel file first so you're not dealing with blank columns in your Frame table.

Still another idea: I open the Excel file with Microsoft Word. It converts spreadsheet cells into "table" cells that Framemaker will take. Then I open the saved Word file from Framemaker. It works.
