If you copy your data from Excel and others and choose Paste Special/Rich Text Format you'll get a nice table directly in FrameMaker (needs a bit of molding though).

* Save the spreadsheet as formatted text, copy the text into FrameMaker,
and use FrameMaker's "Convert text to table" option to put the text into
a table.
* Print the spreadsheet via Acrobat Distiller into a PDF, open the PDF in
Acrobat (full-featured, not Reader) to crop as desired, then import the
PDF into FrameMaker.
The second method is one of my favourite ways to import spreadsheet data when the spreadsheet includes formatting I'd like to include as part of the data's presentation in FrameMaker.
Cheers & hope this helps,

While the "Paste Special" solution suggested by thomas would have been my choice it appears that is a Windows only feature. So I tried Riley's "convert text to table" and that worked quite well. The pdf is an intereting possibility which I may use for other tables in the future but in this case I wanted to have the option of modifying an entry after it was in the table.
Thanks for solving my problem.
