S1000D Bike sample DMC

Hello all,
Our team is converting a set of technical manuals from legacy data to S1000D. We are tasks to come up with all of the DMCs and make the decisions regarding what system is used. Obviously we are referring back to the Bike sample from the S1000D site, and we cannot figure out why they used System D, which is a general communications system, instead of A, which is a generic product, or G, which is a general-purpose ground vehicle.
Has anyone else thought about this? I know most people wouldn't question the powers that be at S1000D...but we want our data to be right. Can anyone shed some light on this?
