I installed CS1 successfully running under Vista. Then I had a problem with Acrobat so uninstalled it. Since then, every time I try to install a programme from CS1 I get an "invalid serial number" message. I know I have the number in correctly as I have the box in front of me and the number I enter matches the one shown on screen for the already installed programmes (Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign).

Apart from the fact that CS1 is not supported on Vista, are you sure you are entering the full serial#? At least for version CS2 and higher, the number in the application is missing the last 4 digits (I think it's 20 digits instead of 24), for security reasons. Do you have the original box with the original number?

I have also been having trouble getting the original creative suites to install on my new desktop computer. It is running Vista with downgrade to xp and when I try to install it the error "invalid serial number" keeps coming up.

Try deleting this file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache\cache.db Then type in serial number again
