Adobe Audition 1.5
Custom computer, WIN XP, ServicePak 3
2.67 GHz, 3.24 GB RAM
Logitech wireless mouse/keybd
HP Laser printer

Hello everybody -----

Multitrack View, cursor was fine last time I used Audition. Next time I opened program, the cursor would not move in the Multitrack View. In Edit View, the upper row in the Transport Control buttons are not even highlighted at all, but are all "shut down."

Rebooting Windows did not help. Re-opening Audition did not work either. Editing by keyboard doesn't work. Long story short, the file cannot be played for any editing or mixing purposes.

Lower row Transport buttons, Edit & Multitrack View:

Beginning/Previous Cue - cursor works.
Go To End/Next Cue - cursor works.
FastForward - cursor works.
Rewind - cursor works.

Upper row Transport buttons, Edit View, all dark, none highlit.

Upper row Transport buttons, Multitrack View, highlit, but don't work:

Play Entire File - cursor DOES NOT work.
Play from Cursor to End File - cursor DOES NOT work.
Play Looped - cursor DOES NOT work.

I realize 1.5 is a very old version, but I've had it less than
6 months, and it is used only once a week.
Please help, and in advance, thank you so much!

Yours sincerely,
dianna cm

This is usually a sign that your soundcard is not assigned properly and Audition doesn't know that there is an audio device available to it. You need to go into Options/Device Properties and find your soundcard and asssign it for Wave In and Wave Out making sure that Use in Ev is ticked for each.
