I have some stuff that I slowed down in Final Cut Pro to 95% or 90% of its original speed.
Math is not my strong point, though, and when you add frames in instead of seconds . . . yikes.
Anyway, is there a way to compute how you have to remap a clip so it will be at 90% of the speed it was at originally?

Thanks.

Wouldn't it just be easier to use time stretch and set it to 90%?

If not, you could use a time remapping expression like this:

time*.9

Uhhh, I'm looking for Time Stretch and I don't see it. I see Time Difference and Time Displacement. I'm using AE 5.5 if that matters.

Time Stretch is in the Layer menu. It's not an Effect.

Think it's right above time remapping

Time stretch is upside down logic compared to most NLE's motion effects.

When you set a percentage in a NLE your setting a play speed, ex: I want this clip to play at 200% of its normal speed. (twice as fast)

In AE your setting the length of the clip, ex: I want this clip to be twice as long so I'll set the time stretch to 200%.

For an original clip of 10 sec.
NLE motion effect at 50% will create a 20 sec. clip
conversely
AE time stretch of 50% will create a 5 sec. clip

And you only thought you hated math Chris. Dan on the other hand eats math for breakfast.

So Dan uses expressions to set all of Eve layer's properties based on the "Rib" component of the Adam layer?

Now THERE'S something to make an expression for. It would truly be an AE joke. I invite Dan to try it.
