Somewhere I am missing something on this ...how to render out the Audio Track associated with my Comp.

I can Ram preview it from footage or Comp etc but can not find an option that makes it "export"

(Do I need an Audio track showing as a layer in the Comp Sequence) How do I do that?

I'm not following you exactly.

Do you want to just extract the audio track as a separate file or do you want to include audio with your rendered movies?

Including audio with your rendered movies is a matter of selecting Output Audio in the Output Module within the Render Cue. Extracting an audio track could be as simple as deselecting the Video Output in the Output Module.

I never use the File>Export feature. There are not enough options.

I'd suggest reading the help files <http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/8.0/> section on rendering. Just click on the link third from the bottom on the left.

I occasionally use the File/Export dialog to export AIFF audio files of a comp. Note that the export always uses the current Work Area.
