Acrobat does not operate efficiently when asked to cross network boundries. That's a statement of fact, not an opinion.

Solution: Work on your computer's hard drive. Copy PDF documents back and forth to and from the network as required. No more problems.

That is bogus. Not printing to a Network drive??? I THINK NOT!!!! I am having this problem on one workstation that I installed Acrobat v5.0 and the rest are working smoothly. What version OS are you using that you are have the "Distiller's scratch volume is nearly full" Maybe that might be a clue to help the both of us. Thanks, -G

OK guys, I signed on to this site for this exact problem. We are converting a word document from a server and saving the pdf locally on a workstation. I got this error message, and later found out (DUH) the local hard drive was full. this error message sounds like it definately has something to do with hard drive space. freeing up HD space on the workstation solved the problem in my case. Good luck!

Freeing up hard drive space on the drive that has the TEMP and TMP environment variables (usually your system drive) is key to resolving this error if you're getting it when starting Distiller (acrodist.exe). But if Distiller is hanging when "relocating files" that could be a separate issue, and you might want to try turning off "Optimize for Fast Web View" in the JobOptions/Conversion Settings.
