I have Acrobat Standard 6 and am using the standard interface, normally to build pdfs from a scanner, image files or other pdfs.

How do I have Acrobat default to producing documents in Version 3 or 4 formats, please? Few recipients appear to have the v6 reader and report inability to open the documents produced.

Also, having compiled a pdf in (presumably) v6 format, how do I then convert or recreate this in v3 or v4 format so that others can read it?

Operating system is Win XP.

Regards, David

In Acrobat 6.0 Professional, you can use Advanced > PDF Optimizer to
save a PDF to lower versions.

In Standard you can try File > Shrink PDF; if you are happy with the
results, you can choose PDF compatibility.
