We are using adobe acrobat with a web -based application. Unfortunately if the auto-update feature engages whilst a user is mid-update of a record this crashes our application. I know it is possible to disable the auto-update if you manually select edit-preferences-update but is there a registry key that I can modify to do this for me? I have tried removing the XML file "acroENU.xml" from root of the acrobat directory and this does stop the update on some machines but not others. Any suggestions?

Yes, there is and it's on the partners website in a document called "Extending the Windows Installer".
