I have a hyperlink in a word doc (word 2000) that opens up a pdf file. What I can't seem to figure out is how to ensure that when the pdf file opens in acrobat the window is mazimized. I realize that I just have to click on the maximize button but is it possible to set something so that it will always open maximized. I need the pdf to open with the single page displayed and with the magnification set at fit in window which I have set using the File/Documet Properties/On open settings. But I can't figure out how to get the file to open in the maximized window setting.

I don't think you can control this with Acrobat. That said, someone will probably come make a liar out of me... maybe it will be me:

I've never used the options I'm about to suggest, but have you tried either "Resize Window to Initial Page" or "Open in Full Screen mode" under Window Options?

Yes, I tried both of them and neither do what I want. I have to have it open so that the whole page is displayed alsong with the thumbnails, Just can't figure out how to have the window to open maximized.

Have you tried the various open options under the Document properties? That may do the job, but I am not sure from in a browser window.

Those settings are only for the pdf itself, not the Window Acrobat opens in, with the exception of full screen.

There are no settings for that.

you need to maximize Acrobat's window and that will be remebered next time you open acrobat, either via a link or directly.

I have tried maximizing the window the first time, hoping it will remember to maximize it the next time, but it doesn't. Iat still opens it in a restore state. Maybe, I just ought to give it up. I was hoping that maybe there was a way to do it using javascript.

I found a work-around. I was linking out of a word document going to a pdf. I just converted my word document to a pdf and then it still recognized the liink to the other pdf and when I went to it it was already maximized so it maintained that orientation. Can't believe all the time I spent on this problem when the solution was so simple.
