How can I search for a given text string within a large number of pdf files?
I don't want to have to manually open each one and use the FIND command.
Does anyone have a script written that can batch search all the files?
Thanks

Use the Acrobat Catalog utility to create a searchable index. There should be more information in your Acrobat help file.

Also, in version 6 of Acrobat and the Adobe Reader, there is an option to search entire folders of unindexed documents. Again, information about doing so can be found in the Acrobat help file.

You could index the PDF documents you wish to search across, and then
search the index for the text string. If you just need to search
locally on your machine, then you could use Acrobat Catalog (which
comes in Acrobat 5.0 or Acrobat 6.0 Pro) to index your PDF files, then
search via the Catalog search dialog. If this sounds right, check out
the Acrobat (full version) help file for more info...

If you need multiple PDFs to be searchable via the web, then ARTS PDF
Search allows you to develop a custom PDF searching solution using the
COM component that ships with the product...

Hope this helps.
