I often scan documents to PDF format. Since the bed of the scanner is larger
than standard letter size (8.5" x 11"), I use the crop tool in Acrobat to
remove the portions of the scan (typically, this is the top, bottom, and
along one side) which are outside the normal document size.
Once I'm done cropping, I save the PDF file.
Then, I print to the Acrobat Distiller and save that file.
The resulting PDF file looks fine, using either Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
However, if I print or fax the document, suddenly the cropped sections are
back again. Well, sort of. Sometimes, the image of the page has been shifted
down, to provide for the piece I cropped off the top of the page, so far
that a portion of the text at the botton of the page no longer even prints.
The bottom cropping works, but not the top. Basically, the image I see is
not the image that is printing.
Other than saving and printing to the Distiller, what the heck can I do so
that the image I print is the same as the image I see on my screen?
