In Acrobat 6.0.2 I cannot find how to select graphics using the "Select Object Tool." I have been following the same procedures that worked in Actobat 5 -- clicking on the graphic object or drawing a selection box around it -- but nothing gets selected. The right-click menu has "select all" grayed out.

Does anyone have any idea what may be going on?

There was no object select tool in Acrobat 5 - it is a new tool, and
it doesn't select graphics.

What specifically are you trying to do?

Thanks for replying.

According to the Acrobat 5 help file, "Using the touchup object tool, you can select a graphic object in a PDF document and move it to a new location, edit it using the touchup object tool task features, or take it into Photoshop, Illustrator, or other application directly from the PDF document, and edit it." The Acrobat 5 touchup object tool was a black arrow, looking like the object select tool in Acrobat 6, but I cannot get the object select tool to select anything but links.

In the Acrobat Support Knowledgebase, Document 1001358WB says:

"The TouchUp Object tool lets you move a graphic object to a new location, edit it using the TouchUp Object tool task features, or take it into Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or another application that can read and write PDF files. ...

"[T]he ... Graphics selection tools in Acrobat let you select a portion of a PDF and copy it to the clipboard. Once the content is copied to the clipboard, you can paste it into another application."

That's a good description of what I'd like to be able to do.

Ok, all of this is true. But the help is referring to the touch-up
object tool, which was also in Acrobat 5.0. It is not referring to the
object select tool.

In Acrobat Pro you may need to right click on a toolbar to select
Advanced Editing.

Hope you found the Object select tool in 6.0. If not, it's under file/tools/Advanced Editing > Select Object tool. I used this in 5.0 as well.

There is no select object tool in Acrobat 5. It's a new tool in Acrobat 6, that only selects Acrobat made objects such as links, form fields and comments.

The touchup-object tool was/is available in version 6, version 5 and version 4 and perhaps even version 3 and 2.
This tool is used to edit/touchup images inside a pdf file.
