As you can see, my system meets or exceeds all the specified requirements, but the installer refuses to recognize this fact (the specification of browsers implies THE USER'S choice of any browser from the list, not Adobe's choice - and due to the proliferation of security holes the IT administrator won't tolerate the presence of Internet Explorer on any system in the building (last week, someone was fired for installing it in violation of company policy). What is the workaround for installing Acrobat Reader 6.0 on a Netscape-only system?
As a workaround (and after clearing it with MIS), I tried installing a copy of Acrobat Reader 5.05 which was shipped with my digital camera's software package. While it worked as a standalone, it won't work from Netscape (in standalone mode, it asked if I wanted to make it available from my browser, and I accepted - but when I tried to jump to a PDF on a web site, Netscape crashed). In the event that I can't get 6.0 working, how do I get 5.05 to work as a plugin and/or helper application?
As this is the Acrobat forum, most users here would probably never install the reader, so would not be able to help ...
