Hi all, I am having a problem that when I try to open certain word documents that I recieve "An error occurred while loading 'ThisDocument' do you wish to continue to load the project?" I click yes and recieve a "Winword.exe" error and the document shuts down, yet if I say No the document loads as per normal but I am unable to save any changes to the document. Also when I try to run the "covert to Pdf" button it says the document is protected yet there is no protection on the document. Can any one please help??
I have windows 2000 prof. running adobe 5.0. Thanks All!!!!

<<< when I try to open certain word documents that I recieve >>>

Unless I'm misinterpreting your words, that sounds like you're describing an inability to open WORD document from within WORD ... which is not an Acrobat issue. Could you elaborate please?

Ok I shall redescribe the problem. Ever since installing acrobat 5.0 when opening certain word documents I recieve the above error of "An error occurred while loading 'ThisDocument' do you wish to continue to load the project?" As soon as I uninstall acrobat the document works fine. I also can not convert the document to a pdf file as it states that "the document is protected" while there is no protection within the document at all. sorry about the confusion.

MJ, forgive me, but that isn't any more clear. You've used the same words as you used before... except you added, "As soon as I uninstall acrobat the document works fine."

We're still left guessing as to what you're trying to open, where and when.
Could you please clearly state the exact steps that lead to the problem?

Ok lets try again. I have installed adobe acrobat 5.0 so that I can convert microsoft word documents to pdf files. After installing acrobat I try to open my "file.doc" word document and while microsoft word is opening I recieve the following message "An error occurred while loading 'ThisDocument' do you wish to continue to load the project?". I am given the option of pressing Yes/No. No will close word while yes allows me to view the document. Once I can view the document I press the "convert to adobe pdf files" button on the word tool bar and I recieve the second error message "acrobat PDF maker cannot continue because the document is protected for editing. Please unprotect it before running PDF maker" yet I have no protection on the word document at all. I then click the "ok" button to close the warning and I am back to my "file.doc" document. I then try to make a change eg change a 1 to a 2 within the document and then try to save the "file.doc" document by going "file -> Save" and literally nothing happens. the "save icon" that appears in the bottom right hand side doesn't appear. I then uninstall the entire adobe software and the "file.doc" document works fine. Have you ever heard of this happening?

Try one or more of the following:

1
Unprotect the document in Word before running PDFMaker by going to Tools and clicking in the "Unprotect Document" menu option

2
Lower your security settings under Tools > Macro > Security

3
Under Tools > Macro > Security, click the Trusted Sources tab and check the "Trust all installed add-ins and templates" option
