When I try to save a pdf to "Web folders in My Network Places" using the "Save As" function in Acrobat, I am unable to view the directories in the "Save As" dialog box. But, I am able to browse the same directories using Word or Excel and the "Save As" function in those apps. This seems to only be happening with Adobe Acrobat and I was able to reproduce it on several other PCs. Any ideas?

What you are trying to do isn't a good idea.

Saving to, or opening from, a network drive can cause problems with the document integrity - caused I guess by network variables. This is one of the common causes of the "There was a problem reading this documet (17)" error.

"Web Folders" are only supported by some MS applications, including Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office. Although you'll be able to see the Web Folder itself in other applications, you usually won't be able to open or save files. This is really a Windows bug as Windows simply shouldn't allow the Web Folders folder to be shown outside supporting applictions.

(While it may be true that working with files on network drives can cause problems, the reality is that many of us in a workgroup environment must do exactly that. Usually problems are only introduced when there is an unexpected loss in connectivity to the network.

In this case, through, we're talking about a very specific Windows-only networking shortcut. Web Folders provide an Explorer-like interface for FTP, WebDAV, and Frontpage Server Extensions network locations.)
