Anyone know where to get this? Apparently it is an esecutable file that can be taken off the CD or downloaded. Link no longer works. I'm abroad (CD in USA) and need to read Asian fonts. Thanks. Very desperate and hope there is another link or something. Tried the auto update feature with my Adobe 5xx install and it doesnt work (hotel firewall?)to get it so hosed at the moment.

Installing Asian Language Files for Acrobat 5.0 or Acrobat Reader 5.

Asian Language Files are available for Acrobat 5.0 and Acrobat Reader 5.0. With any language version of Acrobat 5.0 or Acrobat Reader 5.0, you can display Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files that contain text in Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Japanese, and Korean (CJK). If the author of a PDF file embeds CJK fonts in the document, then any language version of Acrobat 5.0 will be able to display the CJK text on any system without additional software. If the author uses CJK fonts but does not embed them in the document, then you will need access to the correct Asian fonts in order to view the PDF file on non-native systems. Note that for Acrobat Reader 5.0 you need the additional Asian fonts installed in order to view the PDF file on non-native systems even if the author of a PDF file embeds CJK fonts in the document. All you need to do is install the appropriate Asian font pack for use with Acrobat . Asian Language Support is a Custom Install option available in the Acrobat 5.0 installer. In addition, the Asian Language Support installers are available on the Adobe Acrobat 5.0 product CD, or from Adobe's web site at: 誦ww.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/毽戢ck.html

Then you need to get your CD and do a custom install if you don't want
to take the advice you are given. There is NO DOWNLOAD specific to
Acrobat because Acrobat owners already have it.

I read on a post where a customer tried the download and it did not work. My CD is in the USA and I am in Asia on business so cannot just get the CD. Looks like in the past Adobe made the download ava for Acrobat users. If you are SURE that the download will work I can give it a try but being abroad the last thing I want to do is to corrupt my laptop and have no computer. In a bind and looking for help with 100% confidence. Hope you get back to me if you are certain it will work. Thanks in advance.

What you have downloaded is the 5.0.5 update for a non-English Acrobat 5.0.0

"This update is for the following Acrobat 5.0 language versions:
Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, Korean, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese"

The feature you are looking for is Asian Language Support and is not downloadable.

Insert the CD and do a custom install, selecting only the Asian Language Support option.

Please understand that I am currently using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and NOT the Reader. When I attempt to open an Adobe file (which is written in Chinese) I receive the error message:

"There was an error processing a page. An error has occurred that may be fixed by installing the latest version of the Simplified Chinese Language Support package."

I downloaded this file <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1444> but the install language is chinese and/or a bunch of ???????? marks.

The Reader download for the support package was automatic, easy and perfect but does not work for Acrobat (odd it doesn't do the same thing). Since it does not, is there an install available for Acrobat (Not Reader) for Simplified Chinese Language Support Package that's either as simple as the Reader update, or in English?

(in case somebody asks, I don't need to read the Chinese, just change a product number, add watermark and security.)

Thanks for any help.

Do not download anything if you have full Acrobat. Do a custom install
from CDROM and you can add Chinese (or other far eastern) language
support.

Thanks folks - that was the ticket. (Had to break into the boss's office to get it.) I deleted the download.

Having Acrobat already installed, I browsed the CD to find each Asian font also has it's own setup executable and was able to just install the chinese only.

Very much appreciated. BTW - for anyone else, there are neat things to check out on that CD as well. I'd recommend the Paper Capture as definite install if you pdf tif's with text.

MARK No they are not. Just dont respond to the posts. As much as you try to help your help can only cause problems. Short of emailing it to me or poining out where I can download the RELEVANT file you should just stay on the sidelines on this one and watch to learn. Sorry but your posts are annoying as hell.

I'm pretty sure they are, it's just that the installer is putting them in a place that Acrobat isn't looking at. Have you tried extracting them and putting them in your Windows\Font folder? Failing that, if you don't have the CD, I would install Reader 7.0.8 and it's associated fonts. Acrobat 5 is no longer supported.

Hi Mark, thanks for the advice. BTW can you try your suggestion (dropping the reader files in the Windows font folder) and let me know if it messees up you system?
