I realize this sounds like it is a problem with the Reporting Services package, except for the fact that other people in the office with other versions of Acrobat can view the report. Also, we had similar results (sans error message) trying to export or print to PDF using the Crystal 9.2.3 web reporting component. Here is what we've found:
Machine & Software = Results:
---------------------------------
Win2k, Adobe Distiller 6.0.0, Crystal 9.2.3 web reporting = blank page upon export or print to PDF
Win2k, Adobe Distiller 6.0.1, Crystal 9.2.3 web reporting = blank page upon export or print to PDF
WinXP, Adobe Distiller 6.0.0, Crystal 9.2.3 web reporting = blank page upon export or print to PDF
WinXP, Adobe Distiller 6.0.1, Crystal 9.2.3 web reporting = blank page upon export or print to PDF
Win2k, Adobe Distiller 6.0.0, MS Report Services = Adobe error mesg ""There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." upon OPEN, but SAVE works.
Win2k, Adobe Distiller 6.0.1, MS Report Services = Adobe error mesg ""There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." upon OPEN, but SAVE works.
WinXP, Adobe Distiller 6.0.0, MS Report Services = Adobe error mesg ""There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." upon OPEN, but SAVE works.
WinXP, Adobe Distiller 6.0.1, MS Report Services = Adobe error mesg ""There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." upon OPEN, but SAVE works.
Win2k, Adobe Reader 5.0, MS Report Services = Adobe error mesg ""There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." upon OPEN, but SAVE works.
---- Working configurations found
WinXP, Adobe Distiller 5.0, MS Report Services = OPENs fine.
Win2k, Adobe Reader 4.0, MS Report Services = OPENs fine.

We are continuing to test other configurations, but I was just hoping someone might have some insight to help us focus our investigation of this problem.
Thanks!

Currently using Crystal Enterprise 9
The reports are exported to pdf and viewed over the web.
Sometime i get the error mentioned in the earlier post.
When we did testing with adobe 4 it worked find. Adobe 6 reader is what is causeing us trouble. Do you have any more information that could be useful.
It seems that if you clear your temporary internet files, then it will
open in some cases. However, this seems like a bogus fix becuase my
temp internet files are NO WAY near their max limit. In testing this,
I have to keep clearing them over and over.
This is not a problem with Windows2000/Acrobat5 or with Mozilla
Firefox.
I don't understand why so few people seem to be having this problem.
I am streaming the PDF from my asp.net application, I am not directly
linking via a hyperlink which may somehow be part of the problem
because it seems like that is the only thing different that I am doing.

saves fine and can be opened.
