I have a PDF file. When the file is first opened, the text appears fine. When the file redraws (e.g. after a resize), some of the text overlaps. It is like this on-screen and when sent to the printer. The file contains and uses an embedded TT font (not sure if that is relevant or not).

You can see a sample image of this behavior here:

Has anyone see this before?
Does anyone have a solution on how to prevent the text from overlapping like this?

thx
andy

How about posting the actual PDF so we can take a look at it?

I've seen this happen with extreme kerning, or sometimes with any kerning applied to certain fonts. You should also check whether the font has been artificially extended or condensed.

Sorry for being dumb but I'm not sure what you mean by "kerning" and how would a font become extended or condensed artificially?
Thanks for the reply.

Set the font width to 120% or 90% artifically extends or condenses a font instead of using a specifically extended or condensed font that appears that way at 100%.

Kerning are those other setting that look like 'A\V' and you can set a positive or minus value, it changes the spacing between letters rather than using pair kerning that may be embedded in some fonts.
