I'm trying to convert a large Word document (Word 2000) to PDF format (using Acrobat 4.0). The file converts, but when I open it, main bullet points are displaying as "?". However, sub-bullets (open circle) display correctly. I've tried Acrobat PDFWriter & Distiller, but encounter the same problem. Do you know how I can resolve this problem? Thank you.

Sounds like you are not embedding whatever font the bullets are created from (is it from the Symbol font?) when you create the PDF - have you checked the font settings?

(You should have version 4.05c to work with Word 2000. But, I think that update is no longer available.)

If you're using the 'bullets' from the Bullets and Numbering, don't, because they're not true bullets. Instead, type Alt+0149 to insert true ASCII bullets.

That said, I have good results with the square bullets from Bullets and Numbering, but the round ones are historically problematic.

Yes I think I can help you with this, I know a printer driver that
converts to PDF document format with high quality, it's called
LEADTOOLS ePrint driver and you can try the trial version of this
product by visiting the www.eprintdriver.com link.

Best Regards,
Tamer.
