get this error message when trying to read PDF files from a cd.
Error opening document
temp file could not be opened
Adobe acrobat reader...
This happens whatever version of reader I install!
My system is Win 95... 32 megs Ram 120 meghertz cpu 540 meg hardrive.

What I would like to know is why do so many people use this program if it has so many faults and problems in running? Furthermore it would seem that its as likely for me to get a reply as my chances of flying to mars, given the number of problems other people have with this program, I think the best answer for me is to either dump Adobe altogether or see if I can get a converter....if that is possible or isnt too technical? How do you locate your requests once you have submitted them, its just a forest of messages out there?

Have you tried copying the file to your HD and opening that copy from within Reader?
Would you expect many of the persons who use Reader everyday without problems to come here and post messages saying so? How do you think the number of messages posted here compares with the total number uf users of Reader?
What happens if you just bookmark the page where you posted your message? Or use any of the other suggested methods to get back?

Hi..I have indeed copied files from the cd to hard drive and opened them with reader...ok...but the problem is there are so many that you may need to refer to, my wife is working on her family tree, she has these census disks...I think the prob;lem is with my computer and or the operating system as it worked fine before my hard drive crashed, since it has been operating from a different hard drive it just keeps coming up with this error message?
Anyway thanks for the reply...I was beginning to wonder if I was going to get the same results as I do from email pen-friends....they all want email friends but dont seem to want to write? :-)
