Distiller has its own location for storing fonts it needs. The error message is telling you it can't find its Courier. Sounds like "sorting out" the fonts included Distiller's. Again, try reinstalling Acrobat.

Oh yeah.. it is Acrobat 5, Word 2002, and there is no use of Courier font in the document I am trying to convert to a PDF.

Never had this problem untill I tried to "sort out" my fonts.

I just did a tidy up of my fonts and now when I try to create a PDF from Word I get the following error msg-

%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: findfont ]%%

Stack:
/Font
/Courier
/courier

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

How do I fix this? I have reinstalled Courier but no change.

I did a reinstall.. now I get a different message-

The following error occurred while Printing: Windows cannot print due to a problem with the printer setup.
Try one or more of the following:
* Check the printer by printing a test page from Windows.
* Make sure the printer is turned on and online.
* Reinstall the printer driver.

The printer works fine with anything else and what does the printer have to do with the creation of a PDF? I am totally lost and a little bit peeved about now...

If i try to create it from within Distiller i get the following error msg-

%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: ÐÏ à¡± á ]%%

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

Distill Time: 0 seconds (00:00:00)
* *** End of Job ****

WTF?

It looks like you are trying to open a Word file with the Distiller application or drag it onto the Distiller icon/application. That won't work. You have to open the doc in Word and print to the Acrobat Distiller printer.

Yes thats what i did in the first place.

I just tried opening it straight in Distiler to see what happened.

When I attempt to create the PDF from Word I get the first error msg as noted in msg #5 and nothing seems to be wrong with my printer.

Are you saying you can successfully print a test page from the Acrobat Distiller printer properties menu?

I fixed it. I had to remove Acrobat first and then do a install. Everything works fine now. Ahh the fun of computer ownership..LOL

With Acrobat, a reinstall means to uninstall first, including deletion of the Acrobat folder. Glad it finally worked for you.

Re droppping files on the distiller application, this only work when you print any document to the distiller/adobe pdf printer and select to print to file as well.
The resulting prn file is what you drag and drop on the distiller application.
